Hopefully, this journey is inspiring you to clearly define your leadership core values and ways you will show up in the work. We have focused more on the what and how of constructing your manifesto. However, why is this urgent work in the context of school reform? These are my top 5 reasons.
- Knowing who you are helps determine the right work and organization fit for both you and those with whom you work.
- Your manifesto drives the development of the organizational framework, policies, and practices.
- Sharing the manifesto with your community provides the opportunity for feedback, responsiveness and adjustment. This bolsters talented staff retention and optimal results.
- Your manifesto is your guide beyond a specific role, responsibility, and organization. It defines who you are no matter where you lead.
- It is revisible as you learn along the way. Revising your manifesto requires reflection and planning that can become a part of your coaching and leadership growth plan.

Step 4: Leadership Impact Framework Version 1.0
- Revisit your color – coded brainstorm thinking from Step 3.
- Analyze your list into 4 – 7 categories.
- Merge your brainstorming ideas into the categories.
- Use Canva, Google, or the tool of your choice to create a mind map that conveys a framework informed by your manifesto. A model is included below.
Final Thoughts
Urban School Leadership is the professional context for my manifesto and framework. This work may seem like fluffy stuff to some, yet it saves a significant amount of time with damage control, and it supports recruitment, retention, and professional development in organizations. Before signing the next contract, craft your manifesto and framework to help you make informed decisions.
Here is a copy of Version 1.0 of my Leadership Impact Framework. As you will note, I am applying it to TUECE leadership coaching work. Please do not replicate. It is a model only.
